Bookmaker odds divergence in esports: what it means
Why prices differ at all
Every bookmaker sets its own price from its own model, its own customers' money and its own margin. So the same match can be priced differently at the same moment. Small gaps are normal.
When a gap becomes a signal
Bookmakers watch each other. When most of the market has moved and one bookmaker has not yet, that bookmaker's price is temporarily out of line. The opposite also happens: one bookmaker moves sharply and the rest stay put.
Divergence is therefore a snapshot of the market mid-adjustment. It is useful to know about, and it usually closes quickly.
Why speed matters
Gaps tend to close within minutes. Checking ten pages by hand rarely catches them; automated comparison across many bookmakers is the practical way to see them in time.
Limits
A price gap is not a guarantee of value. Margins, limits, market rules and each bookmaker's own information differ. Treat divergence as a prompt to look closer, not as a conclusion.
