How to read esports odds movement
Start with the question
An odds change answers one question: did the market's view of this match change? Reading movement means separating real change in that view from ordinary noise.
Five things to look at
Direction: whose price fell and whose rose. Falling odds on one side means money or information is favouring it.
Size: a move from 2.10 to 2.05 is small; a move from 2.10 to 1.75 is not. Compare the percentage change, not the raw difference.
Speed: a slow slide over a day is different from a drop in a few minutes.
Breadth: how many bookmakers moved. One outlier is usually local; many moving together is a market-wide shift.
Timing: moves hours before the match often reflect new information; moves in the last minutes are mostly liquidity and late money.
Compare with the opening line
The opening price is the market's first estimate. How far the line has travelled from it, and in which direction, gives context for any single change.
Be careful with conclusions
Movement tells you the market changed its mind, not that it is correct. Treat it as one input to your own decision, and keep a record of how such moves worked out over time.
